Jenny Marshall is the Sector Group Coordinator at the Waste Management Institute New Zealand (WasteMINZ) and the Project Leader for Love Food Hate Waste.
WasteMINZ is New Zealand’s representative body for the waste and resource recovery sectors. It is a membership-based organisation with over 1,000 members – from small operators through to councils and large companies.
As project manager of New Zealand’s national Love Food Hate Waste campaign Jenny has been responsible for determining the extent and impact of food waste in New Zealand. The campaign itself seeks to raise awareness of the issue of food waste and provide strategies and solutions for those wishing to minimise their food waste, save money and contribute to New Zealand’s climate change goal of zero carbon by 2050.
This is a perfect fit for Jenny’s background in marketing, education and environmental management.
Your business is food yet are you throwing too much away? This seminar by Love Food Hate Waste New Zealand looks at how you can cut costs and save money by wasting less food. Food waste makes up around 30% of business waste in volume and 60% % by weight yet research from overseas suggests that up to 75% of this waste can be avoided. Using case studies from both New Zealand and overseas you will learn how to identify where savings can be made, strategies for reducing your food waste, ways to engage your staff on the journey and how becoming more sustainable adds value to your brand.
