Liquid Alchemy

Liquid Alchemy distillery, is starting a ‘Craft Spirit Revolution’ using the best ingredients available, as local as possible. And just like Craft Brewers, we value tradition but are not afraid to experiment with new techniques. Our hand built German copper still from the world’s oldest still makers creates smooth, intensely flavoured spirits.

Liquid Alchemy has been created by two Nelson couples and is owned by Jürgen Voigtlander and Mary Bronsteter. Much of Jürgen’s barrel work is for small New Zealand wineries. We aren’t saying we are the first small distillery in New Zealand – there are a number of excellent small spirit producers. But as a group, our artisan distillers have not yet gotten the public engaged in supporting Craft Spirits. That is our mission.

We envision creating an industry group similar to the Nelson Craft Brewing Capital for combining forces with other craft distillers.
