Weston Milling once again will be bringing the Trainee of the Year Competition to the Fine Food Show. The Trainee Competition was started to show the Food Industry what baking is all about, giving exposure to the baking industry and the up and coming trainees and to provide an opportunity for our trainees to see what is out there and give them the motivation to dream big and aim high. Since being launched in 2008 we have grown considerably, with entrant numbers almost doubling each year.
In our 5th year we will again have a bigger show, with nine finalists this years show will showcase some new ideas, great creativity and push the finalists to create the best they can.

Weston Milling Trainee of the Year 2012
This nationwide annual competition in conjunction with the Baking Industry Association of New Zealand (BIANZ), is designed for all baking and patisserie trainees/apprentices to compete in an industry wide bake off. Similar to the baking competitions on TV, yet this is internal to the industry and aims to attract more interest into the trade.
Giving 9 top trainees the opportunity for Industry exposure, awesome prizes, gaining valuable knowledge and experience and recognition for both the them and there employer and training institute.
The competition has four stages;
1. Send in entry form by 29th March, you will be sent initial judging criteria
2. Initial products sent in and judging on 20th April to find the Top 9.
3. Top 9 take a trip to Napier for a 2 day training to prepare for the final.
4. Live final at the Fine Food Show 17th and 18th June.
Who can enter?
You have to be formally enrolled in training or an apprenticeship for baking or patisserie, either in a workplace environment or training institute.
You musn't have competed consecutively in the finals in the previous two years.
No age restrictions.
